I Would Describe Myself As

I prefer to be an optimistic person who looks for the positive side of life. I think laughing is so much better than stressing out!

I really never dated, so I'm not sure how to begin now. I guess I just keep hoping that a relationship will just show up all neatly packaged and with a set of instructions. But, that is probably not very realistic.

I'm a social person who loves being around other people, but I'm just as comfortable hanging out at home. I love live theater and music, but I also enjoy hanging with family and friends.

Before kids and marriage, I was a bit of an adventurer. I traveled around the world, raced cars, flew planes, snorkeled...you get the idea. Since kids, I've had to pull back a bit, opting for camping, biking, hiking, going to the beach, etc. I have always loved anything to do with water: canoeing, swimming, boating, bathing (always a bonus). I've also always wanted to hand glide even though I'm afraid of heights - OY! Never should have done that bungee jumping thing! But I was challenged; I never like to back down from a challenge before giving it my absolute best shot first.

I also enjoy quiet, domestic pursuits: I read voraciously, enjoy cooking, pottery and fiber arts (I weave, spin, knit, etc).

I keep a kosher home but will eat out. I consider myself 'traditional' Jewish - other's say Modern Orthodox or Conservadox - whatever. I do what is comfortable for me and my family.

My background is in automotives, Asian studies and the sciences. My majors in collage were East Asian Studies and Economics and my classes varied from billiards to Nuclear Physics.

I want to meet someone who has a good sense of humor and a love of life. I need a laid back person or at least someone who can laugh and look for the bright side of life - I have enough intensity already as a single mom thank you. I am an independent person who is not uncomfortable with my own company, so I don’t feel a need to ‘cling’ to someone, or derive my happiness from someone else. I think a person in you life should be there because you WANT them to be there, not because you NEED them to be there (as in needy). Anyone I invite into my life (and that of my children) will be here to enhance us – not give us purpose – we already have that.

Since I am new to the city, I don't have a lot of friends or family here. I would like to meet someone for intelligent conversation, hanging out, etc. If the connection is right and more develops, great! If not, I'll be very thankful to have a friend in the area.

Creating an adventure - setting up our own Olympic field (in a tiny backyard) or creating a new recipe (usually because we're missing a key ingredient)...cooking is just tasty science...right?
