Well hello. I'm sufficiently self confident not to feel the need to *****ate anyone. Relationships that work for me are where there is mutual respect, a balance of emotions, similar mental energy levels and stuff like that. Apparently I'm fiercely loyal. I try to be kind always. People tell me I'm usually successful in this respect. I'm totally financial solvent with no particular vices. I tend to laugh a lot. Life’s bizarre, and so why not?

Some say I'm both simultaneously introspective and outgoing but relentlessly optimistic. I am an inventor and a writer on business matters. I write short stories for fun. Picnics are as enjoyable for me as rock concerts. If I have any addictions it's to music. Possibly to Indonesian food, and err .. eBay.

I guess I'd best be described as powerfully built. My hair and my teeth are my own and original and in the right place. When designing I keep Radio 4 on all the time. I hate cheese, football and rap music. Machines, animals and plants seem to like me as indeed do my friends. I'm no Brad Pritt in the looks dept but a few steps up from The Elephant Man. I felt pretty comfortable with that.

The same people told me that I had a rare capacity to laugh genuinely in the face of pain. I don't expect my prospective new partner / lover to share my interest in military history, blues music, genetics, philosophy, Krav Maga, chocolate, cats, Navy Rum, Apple computers, crime fiction, walking in the countryside in the rain or stuff like that. But it would be nice though if they did. Not with all of it though. Just some of it. I'm not greedy.

So may I conclude by saying that if I was in a tough blues-rock band I'd prefer to be the bass player rather than the lead guitarist. Does that make sense? So, how about a cautious toe in the water for both of us? North London

With me, fun varies on who I’m with or what I’m with, my mood, the country I’m in and so on. So it can vary between being in the front row of a hard rock band on my own, picnics with a special person, cuddling my cats, listening to the rain, listening to Bach or Mozart’s music, collaborating with my business team, talking about nothing in particular with close friends. Also listening to BBC Radio 4 before falling asleep, hand-to-hand full contact fighting in a Krav Maga lesson, eating Indonesian food at Bali Bali in London, selling something on eBay, winning something on eBay, joyful ****with the right female, the smell of newly cut grass (not the illegal type!), listening to Blackbirds singing, speaking to an audience on a subject I’m thoroughly familiar with, visiting Alaska, Bruges, Paris, Venice, San Francisco, Colorado and seeing my mum smile.
