Are you the one for me?

I am all kinds things, mostly contradictory. I read a lot, write, cook for my friends - one of my favorite activities. I live in a beautiful, but rather remote part of N. California. Nearly every day my sweet dog and I walk along the lovely headlands and beaches near my house. But I also get restless and have traveled fairly extensively, England, France, Czech Republic, and Africa since my husband died 5 years ago. I swim 3-4 times a week at the local pool and try valiantly to loose those extra pounds. Missing in all of this is a companion to do these things with. I miss being close with someone to laugh with, flirt, share secret jokes, act a lot younger and sillier than I should. I carry music and poetry in my heart, all kinds, classical, Leonard Cohen, Fado, Rock, Gamelan, nonsense rhymes, the romantic poets, from Milton to Pound, you name it. As an uneducated art aficionado, I am never happier than playing tourist in a museum, although again I am almost completely catholic in my taste. I have two sons who left home a long time ago and live far away, two granddaughters and many close friends of all ages from 5 to 80. I am a retired non-profit do-gooder and volunteer on our local theatre board and writers conference organizing committee. I am on the liberal, left, activist side of the political spectrum, aghast at what is happening to this country. I was born in Israel, raised in England and French was my first language. I have lived in the US since 1958.

Well not exactly always, but have often wondered what it would be like to try an online match. Although I'm told that I am a good risk taker, this feels like putting a lot of myself on the line, on the other hand it also feels terribly anonymous. Do you feel like that?

Traveling, especially to places I have not been to before, cooking for and with my friends, listening to music, writing, walking beside the Pacific Ocean, reading a good book, going to the theatre or a concert, playing scrabble, helping people in need, watching the sunset over the ocean from my living room window, reading the New York Times over breakfast even though I hate the news these days.
