VOCALIST, POET AND PAINTER are all part of my identity and my way of life. I give and get my energy in human encounter. I have always thrived upon interesting conversation. The creative mind is always hunting and gathering, so conversations are a tremendous playground. I listen for interesting words and perspectives. I explore the intuitive realm, seeking to spread my mental canvas with fascinating colors. That is the basis for good poetry. (A good conversation can be very poetic.) I have taught college courses in writing of all kinds. The discussions in those classrooms have been some of my favorite moments.

I have always devoted significant amounts of time to health and fitness, to all kinds of exercise and to maintaining good nutrition. It makes good sense to take care of this complex container that houses the soul. What a great feeling it is to move your body in strenuous activity and then rest in the marvelous sensations that linger.I'm an avid walker and swimmer, and I love to hike in the mountains. I love a good massage! Both giving and getting them. (I have taken some adult education courses in massage and shiatsu.) Tender touch is central to well-being.

I've sung professionally, in religious settings as a cantorial soloist and in jazz clubs. (Years ago it was folk rock!) There are precious few paying gigs these days; I shop my act around to senior living centers. They appreciate the old standards that are the heart of my act.

But my three grown children are my real heart and soul. I raised them with a lot of independence and exposed them to a range of cultural and artistic experiences. Two of them are professional performers (one on Broadway right now) and one does administrative work in the entertainment business. Can you tell I am proud?

I am in a transitional period in my life right now, open to relationship and to new opportunities. I am looking for someone with the interest and the patience to develop intimacy, someone with the maturity to grow together in harmony while maintaining individuality. I am looking for my life partner - my "beshert!"

Wat ik altijd al eens heb willen proberen:

Travel in India or China. I like to find homes to stay in - maybe do a house exchange. I really haven't traveled as much as I'd like. South America would be great. I would be glad to live abroad and work in a craft collective. I'd be happy to make an extended visit to Israel and work a kibbutz again.
